from BTC city to BTC citizen

Wonderland
Depot and logistics space of 60s and 70s is today one of the largest European shopping-business-entertainment centres with an ambition to become a city in every respect. Ljubljana city centre boasts its beauty, ambience and distinct identity, while BTC city lacks all of this.
BTC is today a place where one can do the shopping, do business, go in for sports or relaxation, have fun, lunch or a meeting… Not only during weekdays but on weekends too, not only during the day but also after dusk. A new aqua land has opened, an entertainment centre, a casino and a new sports centre are being built. Nevertheless the visitors still go there only with an intention to – shop, have fun, recreate, work… The time spent in BTC depends on the length of an errand.
Sustained capital growth eventually brought about the development of the entire area owned by BTC. What is the next step? Why become a city? How to attract the masses, retain their attention and provoke interaction among them? Will a higher level of urbanity bring BTC mentally closer to the centre of Ljubljana? Will Ljubljana get another, new centre? Will the centres act as rivals or will they establish a synergy relationship?
